Help us open doors to freedom and hope this Christmas.

Behind Closed Doors

As Christmas approaches, many of us look forward to the warmth and joy shared behind closed doors - families gathered around, exchanging gifts, and celebrating together. But for the men, women, and children supported by Medaille Trust, closed doors can represent something far darker. Behind these doors, hidden from the outside world, are experiences of exploitation and abuse that often go unnoticed.

One such story is Lena’s.

Born in Hungary and raised between countries, Lena faced a turbulent childhood, including time spent in social care without family support. As an adult, she trained as a nurse and became a mother to five children, holding onto the hope of a better future. But when Lena moved to the UK, hoping to build a new life, she was instead trapped in exploitation.

Behind closed doors, she was forced to work long hours for little or no pay, given out-of-date food to eat, and subjected to physical abuse and threats. Lena's courage led her to escape through a window one night, and she eventually found her way to a Medaille Trust safehouse.

This Christmas, you have the power to help us transform stories like Lena’s.

With each donation, Medaille Trust can provide essential resources for survivors, helping to open doors to safety, dignity, and a brighter future:

  • £20 could open the door to a welcome home pack, providing essential items like toiletries, bedding, and other necessities to make survivors feel safe and cared for.

  • £35 could open the door to wellbeing activities, offering survivors the chance to participate in group activities, yoga, art therapy, and other programs that help restore a sense of peace and confidence.

  • £50 could open the door to art therapy, giving survivors the chance to express themselves, process their experiences, and build confidence through creative therapeutic sessions.

  • £100 could open the door to learning, helping fund an educational course or English classes to empower survivors with new opportunities.

  • £150 could open the door to safe shelter, contributing to the upkeep and security of a safehouse, providing survivors a stable environment as they begin to rebuild their lives.

With your generosity, we can provide survivors with the safe spaces and support they need to begin rebuilding their lives. This season, together we can unlock doors of hope and freedom for those in need.
