Medaille Trust was on-site with West Midlands Police, executing a warrant on a premises suspected of being involved in modern slavery offences. Our representatives were present, alongside other charitable organisations such as the British Red Cross, Coventry City Council and the West Midlands Anti-Slavery Network to offer care and support to suspected victims on the ground.
A Spokesman for Coventry Police had this to say:
“We are continuing our investigation to find out if more potential victims are involved, and anyone concerned modern-day slavery is happening where they live can contact us via Live Chat or 101, or anonymously through Crimestoppers. Modern-day slavery involves people being trafficked to the UK and being forced to work illegally. Often, this is in the form of low or unpaid work such as car washing, but can also range from supervising cannabis farms to prostitution.
