Medaille Trust has participated in a conference at the British Embassy in Bucharest aimed at improving support and achieving justice for vulnerable victims of modern slavery.
The four-day conference hosted by the embassy this week looked at how to strengthen cooperation between British and Romanian law enforcement agencies to ensure victims receive the support they need.
CEO of Medaille Trust Garry Smith spoke about the charity’s ground-breaking project, Victims’ Voices. The project trains staff to gather evidence which is admissible in court to support the prosecutions of modern slavery perpetrators.
Mr. Smith said: “I highlighted how our Victims’ Voices programme is used to help survivors engage with the criminal justice system. The project enables survivors of modern slavery to seek justice against the people who exploited them. The conference has also been a good opportunity to highlight all aspects of Medaille Trust’s work, and to network with other colleagues from across the sector who are engaged in the fight against modern slavery”
